Chrishmal is an international practitioner with over 25 years PQE in both Trial & Appellate work in Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom. He is also Counsel at the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Hague.
With a result-oriented view to contested litigation he has managed to build a busy international practice. Regarded as a “fighter” in
the adversarial process across the Bench and the Bar maintaining strict work ethics and a client-based approach. Proven record with results in several high-profile cases for clients ranging from State and Corporate entities to lesser affluent pro bono litigants (CLICK HERE – FOR REPORTED CASES). He was recognized as one of Ten (10) Outstanding Young Persons in Sri Lanka (TOYP) in 2008 for “Legal Accomplishment”, as a FUTURE LEADER by the US State Dept. with a IVLP Award (2014) and has been nominated twice to Parliament in 2015 & 2020.
He heads a busy Chamber in Sri Lanka with several Junior Counsel & Staff and with a multi-skilled approach, cost-effectively manages teams of professionals in complex legal issues. In September 2025 he joined Millennium Chambers in London after being called to the Bar in the UK, from the Middle Temple on 24th July 2025.
His academic qualifications including a Master’s Degree (LLM-Merit) from King’s College has led to specialization in a combination of Common Law practice areas with an emphasis on Public & Commercial Laws. He remains deeply committed to the attainment of social justice and democratic values through the pursuit of the Rule of Law.
